Gregorio Sohs, born on March 13, 1948, in Awakuh, Micronesia, passed away January 24, 2026 at MercyOne North Iowa.
He was the eldest of eight children born to Arkange Sohs and Alfonsa (Joab) Sohs. As the firstborn, Gregorio carried a great deal of responsibility from a young age, setting an example of strength, dedication, and care for his family throughout his life.
Gregorio married his beloved wife, Maria, and together they were blessed with nine children. Family was at the center of his life, and he worked tirelessly to provide for them.
A hardworking man, Gregorio spent his life serving in many roles. He worked as a farmer, fisherman, and carpenter, always using his hands and skills to support those he loved. Later in life, he retired as a security guard, a role that reflected his steady and dependable nature.
In 2021, Gregorio moved to the United States, beginning a new chapter of his life while remaining deeply connected to his roots and traditions. He was known as a good man—quietly strong, devoted to his family, and respected for his work ethic and character.
Gregorio Sohs is survived by his children, Joseph George, Liliann George, Rick George, Jefferson George, Stevenson George, Daislynn George, Alfonsa George, and Jody George; along with many grandchildren; his siblings; and extended relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria; and his parents.
