WATERLOO – A Northern Iowa teen was tragically killed when her Chevy Impala pulled into the path of a Clarion truck driver on a rural highway.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on January 6, 2026. At 7:43 AM that morning on the east side of Waterloo at S Canfield Road and Independence Avenue, a 2008 Chevy Impala driven by 15-year-old Ciara Marie Crisman of Waterloo was at this intersection. According to the Patrol, the Impala pulled out in front of a 2005 Peterbuilt truck driven by 35-year-old Travis Rink of Clarion, Iowa. The ensuing collision led to both vehicles coming to rest in the SE ditch.

As a result of the crash, Ciara Marie Crisman was killed. Rink was not listed as hurt in the crash.

The incident is under investigation, the Patrol said, and they were assisted by the Black Hawk county sheriff, Dunkerton police and fire, Jesup fire, and Rasmussen’s Towing.
