SIOUX COUNTY – This perpetrator of egregiousness domiciled in an Iowa home that contained a child and repeatedly victimized the youth until they finally turned him in, and now justice has been rendered.

Thomas Kunstle, Sioux County Attorney, announced that Daniel Little Alvarado, 23, of Mission Hills, South Dakota, was sentenced on November 10 in Sioux County for the crime of Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse, a Class D Felony.

This case arose on April 26, 2024, when a minor reported to authorities that they had been sexually assaulted during the preceding months by Alvarado, who was a member of the minor’s household. The victim described numerous instances of sexual abuse. The Sioux County Sheriffs Office conducted an investigation and discovered a prophylactic which was submitted to the Iowa DCI Crime Lab. Testing confirmed the presence of DNA from both the victim and Alvarado on the recovered item.

In July of 2025, Alvarado (pictured at top) was charged with Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree. On November 10, 2025, Alvarado pled guilty to Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse, Causing Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony, and was sentenced to an indeterminate prison term not to exceed five (5) years in the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections. Alvarado was further sentence to complete a sex offender evaluation, comply with sex offender treatment, submit a sample of his DNA for profiling, to have no contact with the victim for a period of five (5) years, upon release register as a sex offender for life and will be subject to the Iowa Code 903B special sentence for a period of ten (10) years as if on parole.
