Denny Kaletka, age 80, of Cresco, Iowa, died on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, with his family by his side. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home.

Denny Kaletka, age 80, of Cresco, Iowa, died on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, with his family by his side.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home. A committal service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery-Preston. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dennis Leo Kaletka was born on April 15, 1945, in Iowa City, IA, son of Joseph and Lois (Richard) Kaletka. The Kaletka family lived in Aredale, IA, and moved to Cresco in 1950. Denny attended West Side Elementary, and graduated with the Class of 1963 from Crestwood High School. Later that year he enlisted with the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1969. For 31 years Denny was a friendly face at Vandy’s Shoe Shop. He also worked at Featherlite for 7 years before retiring in 2010. Denny was a member of First Lutheran Church, and an active member of the Cresco VFW and American Legion.

Denny has held a ham radio license since 1962. In the summer months he liked playing softball and flying model airplanes, and for several years he enjoyed bowling. Above all else Denny was proud of his family. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He showed them what being a dad really meant with his unconditional love and support.

Denny is survived by his 3 children Mike (Mary) Kaletka of Cresco, Dawn (Robert Casto) Kaletka of Cresco, and Debbie (Richard) Witt of Spillville, IA; 4 grandchildren Jenny (Bryan) Bishop of Knoxville, IA, Joe Kaletka of Cresco, Linda Esquivel of Castalia, IA, and Connie (Ben) Swain of Stewartville, MN; 3 great grandchildren Aiden, Izzy, and Sophia Bishop of Knoxville; and his cousin Nancy Richard of Hampton, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, and uncles.
