Clear Lake – Crystal Mae Djuren, 58, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Avenue North, Clear Lake, Iowa 50428, with Mark Doebel officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.

Crystal Mae was born on November 3, 1966, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Gloria (Swanson) Griffith. She graduated from Webster City High School and continued her education at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City and Hawkeye Tech.

Crystal was a dedicated Lab Technician at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa for 35 years, retiring in 2016. On January 20, 2007, Crystal was united in marriage to Troy Djuren. Together, they shared a love for adventure—competing in numerous Tuff Truck competitions across the U.S., following the Professional Bull Riding circuit, and spending vacations attending events. They also had a passion for driving, repairing, and collecting Ford F-100 trucks, belonging to both the Twin-City F-100 Truck Club in Minnesota and the Henry Haulers F-100 Truck Club in Mason City.

Crystal is survived by her sons, Michael Griffith and Jordan VanHorn; four grandchildren; brothers, Kerry Hilton Griffith (Melody) and Tommy (Mary) Griffith; her beloved Pitbulls, Bud “fathead” and Maci Mae; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Gloria Griffith; her first husband, Richard “Richie” McColley; her second husband, Troy Djuren; sisters, Nancy Griffith, Judith Griffith; and brothers, Bill Griffith and Robert Griffith.
