CHARLES CITY – This Charles City man totaled a woman’s car last year in an auto crash, then this year was nabbed by cops for drunk driving, burglary and assault, and now he’s been arrested once again for drunk driving.

NIT earlier reported that on the morning of April 21, 2024. At 9:51 AM, Charles City police responded to the intersection of North Iowa Street and Hulin Street for a two-vehicle collision. Cody Dravenstott of Charles City was driving a 2013 Buick Verano on North Iowa Street when it struck a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by Alyssa Nauman of Charles City. Nauman’s Ford was totaled in the collision, and Dravenstott was cited by police for failure to yield.

Then, in February of 2025, Dravenstott was nabbed by the Floyd county sheriff’s office for drunk driving, and he is awaiting a jury trial scheduled for November 20, 2025.

Dravenstott was also investigated by Charles City police on April 18, 2025, in a burglary case. Days later, Charles City police charged him with C felony second-degree burglary and assault after an alleged incident in the 200 block of 8th Avenue.  He awaits a December 9 jury trial in this case.

Dravenstott’s problems appear to be compounding this year, after other crimes in which he was guilty and fines began to pile up, his latest brush with the law was on October 13, when Charles City police responded to a request in the 500 block of 18th Avenue to have him removed from the premises. After an investigation, he was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Records show he was out of jail by early the next day by posting $1,000 cash bond.  He is scheduled for a hearing in court on October 24.
