Marian Margaret Spletstoser, 92, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Heritage Care Center in Mason City, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel with Reverend Ben Valentine from Epiphany Parish officiating. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Marian was born on October 18, 1932, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Hazel (Crowley) Hutson. She graduated from Holy Family Catholic School and later joined the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where she dedicated herself to teaching in several communities.

After her time in the convent, Marian continued her passion for education in the public school system, where she met the love of her life, Dennis Spletstoser. Over the course of her 41-year career as an elementary school teacher, she taught many grade levels but especially loved her years teaching sixth grade.

On January 2, 1981, Marian and Dennis were united in marriage in Bloomington, Minnesota. The couple shared many wonderful years together and enjoyed taking numerous fishing trips. Following Dennis’s passing, Marian returned to Mason City to be near her sister, Charlotte. In her free time, she loved visiting with family, working on puzzles, cooking, and reading.

Those left to cherish memories of Marian are her sister, Charlotte Hutson; brother in-law, Wayne Spletstoser, nephews Mike (Kathy) Boyle, Scott Boyle, Chad (Krystal) Workman; nieces, Mary (Greg) Boyle, Wendy Hutson; Kelli Workman, as well as other extended family members and friends.

Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents, brothers, Leonard Hutson and John Hutson, sister, Phyllis Marinis and Marlys Workman; nephew Greg Boyle, brother-in-law Rex Marinis Sr., niece Connie Marinis, nephew Rex “Butch” Marinis, niece, Patty King, and nephew, William King.
