According to Charles City police the incident took place on Wednesday night, July 30, 2025. Police say that officers were called to the 500 block of 5th Avenue on a report of a suspicious person in the neighborhood. Officers arrived at 10:54 PM to investigate and apparently encountered 18-year-old Dominic Corey James McGhee. The encounter did not go smoothly, as McGhee allegedly assaulted an officer after he was found to be intoxicated.
