Patrick Prentice, 33 of Whittemore, passed away after a fireworks accident on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center. A Celebration of Life Visitation for Patrick will be Friday, July 11, at the Whittemore American Legion from 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 PM. Patrick Franklin Lee Prentice, the son of Patrick Lee Prentice Sr. and Debra Sue Laidig, was born on October 17, 1991, in Estherville, Iowa. Patrick graduated from Algona High School with the class of 2010 and attended Iowa Central Community College after graduation. You would find Patrick doing what he loved, cooking, at AK’s Chrome Kitchen in Algona and Pitcher’s in Whittemore.
Patrick loved to have fun. He enjoyed fishing, lighting off fireworks, volunteering at the Whittemore Legion, and spending time with his family, especially his children, nieces and nephews.
Left to cherish Patrick’s memory are his mom: Deb (Bob) Crosby of Whittemore; father: Patrick (Linda) Prentice Sr of Dolliver. His significant other Jen Nelson of Whittemore. Siblings; Kristina Prentice (Derrick Ricke) of Whittemore, Elisa Crosby of Fort Dodge, Marissa (Leo) Livingston of Belmond, Andreah Prentice (Jared Johnson) of Emmetsburg, Hunter Prentice of Dolliver, Donald Crosby (Ali Kuper) of Burt, Bobbie Crosby (Kobe Friday) of Whittemore. Children; Amelia, Lily, Lyric, Axe. Grandmother: Mary Beck of Estherville and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and a wonderful community that he loved dearly.
Patrick is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents Don and Irene Laidig from Estherville. And paternal grandparents Clarence and Evonne Prentice of Estherville. And his dear friend Matt.
