CHARLES CITY – Teen drivers in Ford Escapes collided at a Charles City neighborhood intersection, leading to at least one injured party, a citation, and thousands in damages.

According to the Charles City police department, an auto collision took place on March 17, 2025. At 3:15 PM that day, officers were called to the area of D Street and 3rd Avenue to investigate a 2-vehicle auto accident. Police say a red 2014 Ford Escape driven by 15-year-old Addison Mutch of Charles City was traveling northbound on D Street and entered the intersection at 3rd Avenue. There, it struck a grey 2009 Ford Escape, driven by 17-year-old Tayleigh Latnz of Charles City.

As a result of the crash, both vehicles sustained “severe damage” totaling $20,000. One subject whose identity was not released by police was taken to the Floyd County Medical Center for injuries.

Addison Mutch was cited for failure to yield at an uncontrolled intersection.
