HULL, IOWA – An Iowa man was charged with drunk driving after he blew through a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle.

On Tuesday, January 28, at 9:50 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 18 (320th Street) and Highway Highway 75, two miles west of Hull, Iowa.

Ordel Harberts, age 62, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, was driving a 2015 GMC Acadia northbound on Highway 75. Vincent Liston, age 25, of Hawarden, IA, was driving a 2019 Honda Civic westbound on Highway 18. Liston failed to stop for the stop sign at Highway 75, entered the intersection and struck Harberts.

No injuries were reported.

The GMC sustained an estimated $20,000 in damage; the Honda sustained an estimated $30,000 in damage.

Deputies suspected Liston was under the influence of alcohol.

Liston was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with Operating While Under the Influence alcohol and operating a motor vehicle while driver’s license suspended; he was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failure to obey stop sign.
