KOSSUTH COUNTY – A Northern Iowa felon’s lair was stormed Monday by cops in this tiny Kossuth county hamlet, and they found more than they bargained for.

Billy Jo Grocholski is a 31-year-old felon living in Titonka, Iowa, inside Kossuth county. According to records, he’s a convicted felon for fleeing cops years ago while armed and heavily intoxicated, ending in a fiery crash.

Now, according to Kossuth county sheriff Roger A. Fisher, his department was tipped off that Grocholski could be armed again, which would be a serious crime. Sheriff Fisher reports that on December 30, 2024, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at 249 2nd Avenue SW in Titonka, Iowa. Deputies had collected information that the male occupant of the residence – Grocholski – may be in possession of firearms illegal for him to possess.

During the search warrant for firearms, illegal drugs were located within the residence and the deputies requested a second search warrant for illegal drugs.

As a result of the search, the resident, 31-year-old Billy Jo Grocholski, was arrested and transported to the Kossuth County Jail and charged with:

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Misd.

• Unlawful possession of prescription drug, Serious Misd.

• Possession or control of firearm by a Felon, Class D Felony

• Possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, Serious Misd.

• Possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, Serious Misd.

• Possession of short-barrel shotgun, Class D Felony
