IOWA CITY – An Iowa woman was found dead after cops responded to a report of shots fired in this seedy area near downtown Iowa City.
The Iowa City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 2:38 AM, Monday, December 30, 2024, in the 600 block of South Dodge Street.
Responding officers located a female victim who was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of her next of kin. The incident, which appears to be isolated, remains under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
The female victim in the Dec. 30, 2024, shooting investigation has been identified as Christine Blount, 38, of Iowa City, police said today. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation and no further information was made available at this time.
