MARSHALLTOWN – A fire inside an Iowa hotel room led to the evacuation of the building, authorities say.
The Marshalltown Fire Department was dispatched to the Super 8 Motel on Thursday. October 24 at approximately 9:15 PM for a reported fire in one of the rooms.
Upon arrival, fire department personnel found smoke showing from a window on the 2nd floor. The fire crew entered the building and found a small fire at the foot of a bed in a guests room. The fire was quickly brought under control with a pressurized water extinguisher. Firefighters were at the scene for approximately 2 hours.
The motel was evacuated during the incident. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
The motel resumed normal operations following the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Marshalltown police assisted at the scene.
