MASON CITY – A man convicted of lascivious acts with a child in Charles City but residing in Mason City has violated the state’s sex offender registry and has been shipped to prison for up to 5 years.

Daniel A. Vickers was convicted of lascivious acts with a child after Charles City police brought charges back in 1999. His victim was a male child 13 years of age or younger. Records show he served 75 days in jail and was released to the infamous Beje Clark halfway house in Mason City. He was to serve 180 days or “until maximum benefits are achieved.” He was also ordered to submit to sex offender counseling and submit to periodic polygraph tests. Records also show Vickers violated terms of his probation at least twice and he finally was sent to Oakdale for processing and Mt. Pleasant for further sex offender treatments. He served 422 more days.

In 2016, Vickers was accused by the the Floyd county sheriff of violating the sex offender registry and was given a suspended 1-year-prison sentence and ordered to pay $216.25 to the courts.

In 2021, Vickers was arrested in Iowa City for domestic abuse assault and was sent to jail for 2 days and fined.

In April of 2024, authorities in Mason City applied for and were granted a search warrant for Vickers’ home after an arrest by Mason City police. They seized his cell phone as part of the investigation. He posted bond and was released from jail pending trial. In October, Vickers (pictured at top) pleaded guilty to second-offense violation of the sex offender registry and was given a 5-year prison sentence. He was immediately arrested and incarcerated in the Cerro Gordo county jail, where he remains now, awaiting transport to prison.
