Northern Iowa couple arrested for child endangerment

OELWEIN – A 911 call led Northern Iowa authorities to track down a man and a woman who were accused of child endangerment.

On August 31st, 2024, at approximately 9:17pm, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a possible assault that occurred on 35th St. (highway 3) east of Oelwein. Upon investigation, deputies arrested 64-year-old Randy Gene Johnson of Oelwein. Randy Johnson has been charged with assault with intent to inflict serious injury and child endangerment.

Deputies also arrested 28-year-old Brandi Joanne Johnson of Oelwein. Brandi Johnson has been charged with child endangerment.

Both suspects were transported to the Fayette County Jail where they awaited for their initial appearances.

Brandi Johnson has since been released on a Promise to appear and Randy Johnson has a bail of $2,000 bond allowed to post 10 percent.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oelwein Police Department and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Police say this is still an on-going investigation.
