MASON CITY – Kinseth Hospitality, a nationally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, executed a purchase agreement with the city today that outlines the process of building a $15 million extended stay hotel connected to Music Man Square via the downtown skywalk.
The addition of this exciting new partner represents the final step toward completion of the Mason City River City Renaissance. Kinseth Hospitality has a proven track record of success, not only in North Iowa, but across the country:
– A 70-year reputation of success in the hospitality industry
– Owns or operates 125+ hotels nationally, including the Hampton Inn & Suites in Mason City
– Employs 4,000+ people nationwide
This not only completes the River City Renaissance vision, but also dovetails perfectly with the ongoing Destination Iowa efforts to make Mason City an outdoor recreation destination. This includes a new Riverwalk, Bike Park and Singletrack trails. These new amenities were one of the factors in Kinseth’s decision to build a downtown Mason City hotel. Business travelers and families on vacation experiencing the truly one-of-a-kind recreational amenities will enjoy staying in this new high-quality hotel in Mason City’s downtown.
Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2025.
This is another announcement of new investment in Mason City coming on the heels of over 250 new downtown housing units and several recent new major economic development announcements.

Just imagine how busy the hotel will be once the “slingin’ drugs an’ lead” darkies decide to start hanging out in the parking lot.
You just won POS of the Month. I am pretty sure you are a repeat winner.
ooga booga eat a banana
Thanks for the confirmation but it wasn’t needed.
>wasn’t needed
Just like the darkies
Just. Like. You.
But theyve got multiple worthless sculptures ‘downtown’ What great leadership. MC going to be an ‘outdoor destination’ What a gd failure
what 10 years later of fence up , fence down, fence up…what an Iowa embarrassment our council is.
Yep, too bad the citizens didn’t choose you.
At the beginning of this fiasco, Kinseth was the first to condem this hotel because the market wouldn’t support the extra rooms. Kinseth is a great company, I wonder if there is an under the table incentive for them to build now.
Is it because it is a long stay hotel?
