Farmer hurt while operating sprayer near Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE – A Northern Iowa farmer was hurt while operating a field sprayer near Clear Lake Monday morning.

According to the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, an incident took place Monday, May 20, 2024.  At about 11:08 AM that morning, near Cardinal Avenue and 220th Street, near Clear Lake, 54-year-old Darin Christian Hansen of New Hartford, Iowa, was operating a self-propelled John Deere field sprayer when he lost control of the machine due to a possible medical issue and crashed into a ravine across from the field he was spraying.  Hanson was taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City by Clear Lake fire medics for minor injury.
