IOWA CITY – The most-watched women’s athletic event in BIG10 Network history lured 657,000 viewers for matchup between Iowa Hawkeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions.

On Thursday, Feb. 8, the matchup between No. 2 Iowa and Penn State delivered 657,000 viewers, making it the most-watched women’s athletic event in Big Ten Network history. Viewers were treated to Hannah Stuelke’s 47 points.

The previous record of 612,000 viewers was set on Oct. 21, 2023, in a women’s volleyball matchup between Wisconsin and Nebraska.

The matchup between the Hawkeyes and Nittany Lions is the most-watched women’s basketball broadcast on BTN, besting the previous record of 421,000 viewers set earlier this year in a matchup between Iowa and Nebraska on Jan. 27.

Women’s basketball broadcasts on BTN are averaging 109,000 viewers this season, a +74% increase over last year’s performance.

All viewership data is attributed to Nielsen Media Research.
