Women’s College Basketball: #2 Hawkeyes defeat Penn State, 111-93, behind Hannah Stuelke’s 47

With 54.3 seconds to go, Hannah Stuelke broke Carver-Hawkeye Arena’s all-time record for scoring in a single game and Caitlin Clark tied the arena record for most assists in a single game.

IOWA CITY – No. 2 Iowa (22-2, 11-1) defeated Penn State (16-7, 7-5), 111-93, inside a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Thursday night.

With 54.3 seconds to go, Hannah Stuelke broke Carver-Hawkeye Arena’s all-time record for scoring in a single game and Caitlin Clark tied the arena record for most assists in a single game.

National Player of the Year candidate, Caitlin Clark, became the Big Ten’s all-time leader in field goals made. Clark tied Iowa’s all-time assist record for a single game in Carver-Hawkeye Arena with 15.

Hannah Stuelke recorded a career-high in 47 points, on 17-of-20 shooting from the floor.

The 16th 40-point outburst in program history.

It was the second most points scored in a single game by an Iowa women’s basketball player.

She is the fourth different Hawkeye in school history to record 40 or more in a single game.

It was her first 30-point performance as a Hawkeye.

Clark is 39 points from Kelsey Plum’s NCAA all-time scoring record.

Clark recorded 27 points, a season-high 15 assists, and five rebounds in tonight’s action. It was her 56th career double-double which is good for fifth on the Big Ten’s all-time list.

Clark is the only player in the country with 750+ points, 170+ assists, and 150+ rebounds.

Stuelke notched her 14th game of the season in double figures.

Stuelke has netted 10+ points in 25 career games.

Kate Martin has registered double figures in 16 of the last 20 contests.

Martin record her sixth career double-double and third of the season which is a career-best.

Tonight’s sellout extends Iowa’s streak to 15 consecutive home games at capacity.

UI is 37-4 in Big Ten action since Feb. 9, 2022.

Iowa has won their last nine games against Penn State dating back to 2018.

UI is 10-1 in its last 11 meetings with the Nittany Lions.

The Hawkeyes have won their last nine home games.
