Slick, snowy road leads to teen driver sliding into a tree in Mason City; three hospitalized

MASON CITY - Three teens were taken to the hospital after the young van driver lost control of her vehicle and slid into a tree.

MASON CITY – Three teens were taken to the hospital after the young van driver lost control of her vehicle and slid into a tree.

On November 25, 2023, at 6:30 PM, a single vehicle accident was reported at 11495 265th Street (Memorial Park Cemetery) in Cerro Gordo County. A white 2014 Chrysler Town & Country Minivan being operated by 16-year-old Makayla Jean Randall of Garner and the two passengers, 15-year-old Kyra May Juarez of Forest City and 14-year-old Aurora Ann Boswell – Wood of Garner were traveling eastbound on 265th Street at Memorial Park Cemetery when the driver lost control due to snowy road conditions and struck a large tree on the property.

All three subjects in the vehicle were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver was cited for failure to maintain control.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mason City Fire Medics, Clear Lake Fire, Iowa State Patrol and Lake Towing.
