Convicted Northern Iowa robber escapes department of corrections custody

WATERLOO – A convicted Northern Iowa robber has absconded from the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections, and police are actively searching for him.

WATERLOO – A convicted Northern Iowa robber has absconded from the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections, and police are actively searching for him.

Tyrin James Jones (pictured above), convicted of Robbery 2nd Degree in Fayette County, failed to report back to the Waterloo Residential Correctional Facility as required on Friday.

Jones is a 24-year-old black male, height 6’3″, and weighs 198 pounds. He was admitted to the work release facility on October 12, 2023.

Persons with information on Jones’s whereabouts should contact local police.
