CEDAR FALLS – UNI’s Grace Boffeli has been named the Missouri Valley Conference’s (MVC) Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. The selection is her first weekly honor of the season and third of her career.
A native of Edridge, Iowa, Boffeli led the scoring for the UNI women’s basketball team on Saturday in a matchup against Ball State. She recorded 24 points, two shy of tying her career high, on 64.7% from the field and brought down eight rebounds. Along with that, Boffeli recorded four assists, one block, and one steal in her 35 minutes against the Cardinals.
Grace Boffeli was named the preseason Player of the Year by the MVC earlier this year as well as being named to the preseason All-MVC First Team. In her three games this year, Boffeli has recorded double-figure points and tallied a double-double in the matchup against Green Bay to open the 2023-24 campaign. The junior is just six rebounds shy of entering the UNI top-10 for all-time rebounding.
Boffeli and the Panthers return to action on Friday where they will take on Syracuse in the first game of the 2023 South Point Shootout in Las Vegas, Nevada before taking on Vanderbilt on Saturday.
