FAYETTE COUNTY – A Northern Iowa man died in a Fayette county accident.

Police say that on November 10, 2023, at approximately 01:05 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle rollover accident with ejection. Law enforcement responded to the area of 45th Street and R Avenue, just north of Oelwein. Upon arrival it was discovered that the driver was traveling northbound in a White 2008 Ford F250 Super Duty truck when he lost control, entered the ditch, and rolled multiple times. Both the driver and a passenger were ejected and sustained serious life-threatening injuries. Both occupants were transported to Oelwein Mercy Hospital.

The driver, despite lifesaving efforts, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The passenger was later transported to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City for further treatment.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oelwein Police Department, Oelwein Fire Department, Fayette County Medical Examiner, and Mercy One Ambulance. The accident remains under investigation by Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Technical Investigation team.

Driver: Cooper J. Ingels, 21, of Maynard, Iowa. (deceased)
Passenager: Adam J. Michels, 23, of Maynard
