Cheryl Jean Fischer Hanson, daughter of Cyril and Vera (Anderson) Fischer, was born on October 12, 1938 in Kossuth County, Iowa. She passed away on May 10, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society of Estherville, at the age of 84.
The Fischer family moved to a farm in Emmet County when she was 2 months old. Cheryl grew up in Emmet County and received her education in Estherville, graduating from Estherville High School – Class of 1956.
On August 18, 1957, she was united in marriage to E. Romain Hanson at the Estherville Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they made their home in Estherville. The couple celebrated 55 years of marriage before Romain’s death in 2013.
Cheryl was secretary at the Estherville Lutheran Church from 1957-1958 and 1960-1962. Cheryl had a drapery and sewing shop in her home.
Cheryl enjoyed antique cars, quilting, gardening, flowers, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and did volunteer work there. She was quilting chairman for 25 years, a member of the antique auto club, and historical society.
Left to cherish Cheryl’s memory are her daughter, Roxanne (Lyle) Hevern, grandchildren, Adam and Alex Hevern and Allison (Brady) Hoogendoorn and two sisters.
She has been preceded in death by her husband E. Romain Hanson, son Marcus Hanson, granddaughter, Ashley Hevern, parents, Cyril and Vera (Anderson) Fischer, a brother and a sister.
