SAC COUNTY, IOWA – A Kansas woman is dead after a Northern Iowa auto crash.

A two-vehicle crash was reported to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office on Monday April 18, 2022, at 10:22AM. The crash happened about a half mile south of 340th on Hwy 39 South of Odebolt, Iowa.

A 2000 BMW being operated by 54-year-old Jan Gentry from Shawnee, Kansas was southbound on Hwy 39 when she lost control of her car on slush covered roadway. The Gentry vehicle struck a northbound 2012 Chevy Equinox being operated by 19-year-old Clay Roberts of Dunlap, Iowa. Blowing snow had caused areas of slush to form on the road.

Gentry was pronounced dead at the scene. Roberts was transported to Crawford County Memorial Hospital with what is described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol. Sac County Sheriff’s Office, Odebolt Fire & Rescue, Sac County EMS and Sac County Medical Examiners all responded to the scene.
