PLYMOUTH, IOWA – Boozy Minnesota men mis-handled a gun at a local campground, police say, and one was accidentally shot.

On July, 11 2020 at approximately 6:00 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a male that had been shot at the Camp at the Woods Campground in Plymouth, Iowa. Upon arrival it was determined that Levi Max Ekwall, 21, of Stillwater, Minnesota and Sean Richard Darcy, 22, of Albert Lea, Minnesota were handling a loaded semi automatic 9mm pistol in an inappropriate manner when the firearm was discharged. Darcy subsequently sustained a non life threatening injury as a result of the discharged firearm and was taken to Mercy One.

Alcohol was a contributing factor in this incident.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Plymouth Fire and EMTS and Mason City Fire Medics.

  1. Didn’t seem to be an issue when a police officer in Osage shot his friend. He’s now a firearms instructor apparently.
