SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA – An incomplete 911 call to a Northern Iowa Walmart parking lot led to a chase of an armed man who was with a female juvenile.
On Friday, May 8th, 2020, at approximately 11:00 pm, the Spirit Lake Police Department responded to the Walmart parking lot for an incomplete 9-1-1 call. Officers located 18 year old Buomkuoth Lol of Carroll, Iowa, and a juvenile female sitting in a black 2011 Chevrolet Cruz.
Upon investigation, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a search of Lol’s person, a handgun was located. Lol then fled on foot and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers lost sight of Lol during the foot pursuit and requested the assistance of the Estherville Police Department’s K9, Max, to aid in tracking him.
Max was able locate Lol, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Lol was booked into the Dickinson County Jail on the following charges:
Felon in possession of a firearm (Class D Felony), Interference with official acts while in possession of a firearm (Class D Felony), Carrying weapons (Aggravated Misdemeanor), Providing false identification information (Simple Misdemeanor), Driving while suspended (Simple Misdemeanor), and Minor in possession of alcohol (Simple Misdemeanor).
The juvenile female was released to the custody of her parents.
The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted by the Dickinson County Sherriff’s Office, Estherville Police Department, Okoboji Police Department, Arnolds Park Police Department, Milford Police Department, and Iowa State Patrol.
