Health department director warns, “huge increase” of Covid-19 cases now taking place in Iowa

Hanft
MASON CITY – Cerro Gordo county’s health department director is warning this morning of a “huge increase” of Covid-19 cases now taking place in Iowa.

According to Cerro Gordo county’s health department director Brian Hanft:

“There are now 336 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iowa, with 6 of those cases identified in Cerro Gordo County. Just a week ago, there were only 90 confirmed cases in the entire state. That is a huge increase of cases within a week, and I expect those numbers to continue to rise in the coming weeks. Yesterday during the Governor’s press conference, it was stated that they expect the peak to occur within the next couple of weeks, but that is subject to change. Data being collected will drive the decisions being made for our state. Governor Kim Reynolds’ is reluctant to enact a shelter in place in Iowa because a lot of the shelter in place measures are already being executed. Iowa’s workforce is now close to 70% telework, and other businesses are encouraged to do the same. Staying home when all possible is so important to limiting the spread. I hope some of you were able to get outside this weekend or do something you enjoy. For those busy responding, thank you for your service.”

Since when are fast food restaurants an essential business??

Strange? The state says 445 cases now. Who is right?

Not really strange at all
This article was published before the new state number were announced.
I guess what the Cerro Gordo county’s health department says in the article about “huge increase” in cases is true. Just look at the increase from the time this article was published this morning to now.

Where there is 300 cases from testing there is 1000 more that are not tested. Iowa is behind the spread. Too late to stop travelers at the border now. Stay home.
