MASON CITY – A Mason City man facing two felony fraud charges says he is not guilty and awaits trial next month.
On September 1, Mason City police officers arrested 48-year-old Johnathan Francis Kofron of Mason City for two counts of insurance fraud, a class D felony.
Kofron is accused of providing fraudulent information to an insurance company to obtain homeowners insurance on a residence that he was renting. The other charge of insurance fraud alleges that in March of 2016 he filed a fraudulent claim for a lost ring with his insurance company and received over $4,200.00 from his insurer.
On October 11, Kofron and his public defender entered a not-guilty plea. He earlier posted $5,000 bond and had been released from jail.Kofron now awaits a pretrial conference on December 5 and a jury trial on December 20.
