Man awaiting transport to prison charged with assault

MASON CITY – A Fort Dodge man who is awaiting transport to prison for shooting up a bar in that town allegedly committed an assault in the Cerro Gordo county jail.

Sheriff Kevin Pals tells NIT that 21-year-old Jordan Foy was charged with serious assault for assaulting another inmate during a dispute on the evening of April 29. There was no word on the extent of the injuries to the alleged victim.

Foy is being held in the Cerro Gordo county jail on a probation revocation charge connected to his felony second-degree robbery of the Northside Liquor Store, which he and a local woman robbed back in 2009.  He awaits a court hearing in that matter.

Foy was recently sentenced to the maximum terms of 10 years in prison on a charge of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon and 5 years in prison on a charge of Possession of a Firearm as a Felon. The sentencing judge emphasized the necessity of incarceration to ensure the safety of the community from Foy, who admitted at trial that he fired multiple shots inside the Dodger Tap bar in Fort Dodge back in December of 2015, placing the occupants in fear of serious injury.
