Lt. Ron Vande Weerd was issued the Five Star Innovation Leadership Award. The Iowa Law Enforcement Academy’s (ILEA) 5-Star Innovation Leadership Program consists of five ongoing program areas. Each area represents the finest of today’s leadership innovation and organizational excellence and development.
Lt. Vande Weerd has been with the Mason City police department since June of 1988.
The ILEA has issued the Five Star Innovation Leadership Award to 11 officers since they began offering the various training classes. Two of the MCDP’s lieutenants have received the award so far – Logan Wernet previously and now, Lt. Vande Weerd.
