Suspect in Iowa bank robbery nabbed in Illinois

DECORAH – A Postville, Iowa man suspected of robbing a bank in the tiny community of Calmar, Iowa Tuesday morning has been caught in Illinois.

Tyrone Wilson, age 48, was apprehended without incident in Rock Island, IL Wednesday afternoon and is now in the custody of law enforcement officials.

According to the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office, at about 10:30 AM May 12, there was a robbery at the Security State Bank in Calmar, Iowa. The robber – suspected to be Wilson – got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their cooperation and assistance with this case. The Sheriff’s Office and Calmar Police Department would also like to thank the multiple law enforcement agencies who assisted throughout the investigation.
