10392585_764231566970829_1558559781837949102_nFAYETTE, IA – An investigation is under way at this time into an incident Friday where a truck driver lost thousands of empty beverage cans along an Iowa highway.

On September 12, 2014 at 10:30 AM, a Fayette County deputy stopped a semi-tractor trailer on Hwy 150 approximately 4 miles south of Fayette after the deputy observed that the trailer’s rear door was unsecured and it’s contents of smashed aluminum cans were falling out onto the roadway.

An ensuing investigation showed that the semi, driven by 53-year-old Gary Martin Williamowski of Cedar rapids had lost thousands of aluminum cans – nearly a third of the contents of the trailer – out onto the roadway between 190th Street (3 miles south of West Union) and 100th Street (5 miles south of Fayette) along Highway 150.

No injuries and no damage was reported. The trucking company – Can Shed, out of Cedar Rapids – and the IOWA Department of Transportation are working on clean up at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
