ALGONA – Two North Iowa residents who were arrested on child endangerment charges in December of 2013 are still battling the charges in court.
Thomas Vanderplaats, age 27, and Stacie Hurlburt, age 42, both of Swea City in rural Kossuth county, were arrested on December 31, 2013 by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department. Both were charged with child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Both Hurlburt and Vanderplaats posted an unknown bond amount and were released from jail pending court hearings in January.
On Tuesday, Vanderplaats had his case continued until September 2, 2014, when a pre-trial conference is scheduled. Hurbert has no court date set, records show.
Both suspects pled not guilty in February.
