WEST UNION – An Iowa man recently decided to fight cops and ended up in the hospital.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reported that on April 22, at about 5:25 PM, officers received a call of a trespassing person at 18569 Lane Road in Fayette.

Through an investigation, the subject was later identified as Jermaine Blackcloud, 33 of Tama, Iowa. Blackcloud was released earlier from Prairie View Residential Care Facility and returned a short time later, agitated. Once Deputies arrived at the facility, Blackcloud attempted to assault them with an object. Blackcloud became violent and resisted arrest, striking an officer who was attempting to restrain him. Police said that “less lethal means” were administered which resulted in the arrest of Blackcloud. He was charged with Interference with official acts, Disorderly Conduct, and Assault on a Peace Officer.

Blackcloud was taken to Palmer Hospital for medical release prior to being taken to the Fayette County Jail for processing. Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by West Union Police Department, Fayette Police Department, and Tri-State Ambulance.
