ISU women trounced by Baylor, 89-51

WACO, Texas – The Iowa State women’s basketball team (17-8, 6-8 Big 12) fell to No. 6 Baylor (23-3, 13-1 Big 12) Wednesday night by a score of 89-51 in the Ferrell Center. The Cyclones couldn’t find an answer for the Lady Bears’ point guard Odyssey Sims. The senior led the game in scoring with 24 points on 9 of 13 shooting.

Iowa State struggled offensively, scoring just 21 points in the first half and hitting on 8 of 22 shooting (1-11). The 21 points are tied for the fewest scored by the team this season (@WVU, 1st half). Ball safety also proved to be an issue in tonight’s contest, as the Cyclones gave up 14 turnovers in the first half.

The Iowa State women took better care of the ball in the second half, giving up just 5 turnovers. Hallie Christofferson and Seanna Johnson led the Cyclone scoring effort, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.
