HAMPTON – A Hampton man who plead guilty to a sex abuse charge has been sent to prison.
Izreel Hernandez-Garcia, age 27, was charged by Hampton police in June of 2013 with two counts of felony C third degree sexual abuse of a person under the age of 20. The separate incidents took place on June 1 and June 11 of 2013.
During the trial of Hernandez-Garcia, an interpreter was hired at state’s expense. It was reported that Hernandez-Garcia pleaded guilty to one count of felony C third degree sexual abuse and the other charge was dropped. According to KLMJ Radio in Hampton, Hernandez-Garcia received a 10 year prison sentence, 5 years probation following his release, and a requirement to register as a sex offender in Iowa. He must also pay restitution to the victim.
Hernandez-Garcia is now in an the Marshall County jail, records show.
