IRVING, Texas- Fifteen members of the Iowa State Football team have been named to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 Conference teams, announced today by the Big 12 Conference.
Senior Kyle Lichtenberg, a native of Bettendorf, Iowa, made a Big 12 Academic All-Big 12 team for the fourth time in his career and Wes Boyer, a senior from Cedar Falls, Iowa, earned academic All-Big 12 honors for the third time.
Iowa State players joining the first team for the first time are Daniel Burton, a redshirt freshman from Oklahoma City, Okla., Jacob Gannon, a junior from Iowa City, Iowa, Luke Knott, a redshirt freshman from Lee’s Summit, Mo., Jamison Lalk, a sophomore from Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mitchell Meyers, a redshirt freshman supply from The Woodlands, Texas, Kane Seeley, a redshirt freshman from Perry, Iowa and Jeff Woody, a senior from Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
Cyclones earning second-team recognition were Dondre Daley, a redshirt freshman from Tarpon Springs, Fla., Nick Kron, a sophomore from Clive, Iowa, Cole Netten, a redshirt freshman from Ankeny, Iowa, Sam B. Richardson, a sophomore from Winter Park, Fla., Charlie Rogers, a redshirt freshman from Iowa City, Iowa and James White, senior from Dallas, Texas.
Student athletes received first-team recognition by maintaining a 3.20 or higher GPA. Players who maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or the two previous semesters and participate in 60 percent of Cyclones’ scheduled contest, earned second team recognition.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and met all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
