logo_minnesota_timberwolvesNEW YORK – The first 2013-14 road trip for the Timberwolves started Sunday against the New York Knicks, and the Wolves came out firing, leaping to a 40-19 lead after the first quarter and never really looking back as they beat New York 109-100.

Kevin Love led the Wolves with 34 points and 15 rebounds. Kevin Martin scored 30. Carmelo Anthony lead the Knicks with 22.

The Wolves and Knicks last faced off on Feb. 8 last season and New York came away with a 100-94 win behind 36 points from Anthony.

The Wolves are now 3-0 on the season.

The two teams split the two-game series last season.

On Wednesday, Minnesota opened up its 25th season in exciting fashion. Behind a game-tying 3-pointer from Love, the Wolves were able to beat the Orlando Magic 120-115 in overtime.

The Wolves travel to Cleveland for a Monday night contest.
