From the Mason City School District –

The Mason City Community School District Board of Education invites the community to an open house to be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the secondary campus located at 1700 4th St. SE. Mason City High School students will provide guided tours of the facility renovations. This will be an opportunity to see the new academic wing, information center, front office/entrance, FEMA room and the John Adams Middle School renovations and to hear from our students directly about the benefits of these new spaces. Please enter at the high school main entrance (south doors) on 4th Street. These projects were funded through local option sales tax dollars, bonds, and state and federal grants.

LVS….. Name one candidate that the union endorsed that hasn’t been a tax and spend liberal?
@Mr. Liberty-I really think you are reaching here. What party they belong to does not have much to do with local elections. If elected he will be one of fives voices on the council. Hardly enough to swing the vote. Of course the unions are down on the local bunch. Look what they tried to do to the sanitation department and tried with the fire department. I didn’t even ask if they were Democrats or Republican because I don’t think it matters that much. I vote for the person anyway, not the party.
I stopped buying the Globe because it has become nothing more than a media outlet for Mason City High School. A way to blind the public with wonderful things just before votes to take more and more of our money. I see the NIT is going down the same route. Will not be renewing!
Nearly $50 million, unbelievable! And NO new pool included. This was their chance for that and they were so busy sneaking it past the public they must have forgot. No public notice and no public input! And still people voted (or didn’t vote) to give them more money.
Its amazing about a week after 14‰ of the people voted to increase real estate taxes to give the school more money I read in the paper that the school is looking for a secretary for the director of nutrition. Seriously cooks need secretary’s now? Also, if lvs and Mr.McCourt hasn’t figured it out yet the reason for Matt not coming out and supporting that issue is because he was a closet tax and spend liberal as we well know now. Wake up LVS and Mr. McCourt! !!!
@Mr. Liberty-It is easy to make baseless accusations. Where is your proof. It seems to me that Matt has always given Jack McCourt more press than he had to. Of course the school system is going to waste more and more money. The sheeple gave them a blank check to spend our money. It is to be expected.
