MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board Roadside Management staff will soon begin annual tree and brush removal efforts within county road right-of-ways. Manual removal of trees and brush this year will be focused primarily within Union, Mt. Vernon, Bath, and Owen townships according to the Cerro Gordo County brush removal policy. Please use caution when approaching a work zone as staff and equipment may be working in close proximity to traveled portions of the road.

  1. why do it at all? You can go in to Wisconsin or Minnesota, and the ditches are lined with brush and trees! And yes, its beautiful!!

  2. This is what happens when employees have nothing to do. Looks like hell and kills what little habitat is left for wildlife

    1. what little habitat left is directly because of the farmers tearing down homesteads, leveling out ditches and groves of trees. Tiling out every bit of ground also leads to the flooding problems we have been having.
Yes, Farmers are needed to grow crops, but it also takes city people to build those $100,000.00 combines and tractors. So dont say anything about needing farmers to feed the world. It takes everyone to produce food. factory workers, mechanics, and buyers equally.
