Another arrest made in slaying of British soldier

LONDON, May 31 (UPI) — London police arrested a man on suspicion of being involved in supplying illegal firearms in connection with the killing of soldier Lee Rigby.

The arrest came Friday morning, just before the start of the Rigby’s inquest at Southwark Coroner’s Court, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The name of the suspect wasn’t reported but police said he was taken into custody for questioning and that searches were carried out at homes in north and east London as part of the investigation into Rigby’s death.

Rigby, 25, of the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, was attacked with butcher knives and meat cleavers May 22 as he walked to his barracks in south London’s Woolwich district, witnesses said.

Michael Adebowale, 22, was charged with Rigby’s death and with possessing a 9.4mm KNIL Model 91 revolver. He appeared in court Thursday to hear the charges against him and is to make another court appearance Monday for a bail hearing.

A second suspect, Michael Adebolajo, 28, was shot by police after the Rigby’s slaying and has been hospitalized since. He hasn’t been charged.

Eight others have been arrested in connection to the case. Two have been released without charge.
