LOS ANGELES, May 16 (UPI) — Candice Glover, a 23-year-old singer from South Carolina, was crowned the winner of Season 12 of “American Idol” in Los Angeles Thursday night.
She beat out fellow finalist Kree Harrison, a 22-year-old aspiring recording artist from Texas, for the honor, as well as a recording contract.
Glover sang “I Am Beautiful” as the show wrapped up its season finale.
Ryan Seacrest is the show’s host, while Keith Urban, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey serve as the competition’s judges.
