TALOQAN, Afghanistan, April 26 (UPI) — Six police officers in the Takhar province in northeastern of Afghanistan were poisoned and shot to death by a comrade, local authorities said.
Khwaja Ghar District Gov. Mullah Omar confirmed the report Thursday, saying the incident occurred while the victims were asleep. The police officers were initially poisoned by another officer, then shot to death, he said.
No arrests have been made.
Several Afghan security force members have been killed in insider attacks, the Khaama Press said, noting Thursday’s incident was the first in Takhar.
