Alliant Energy Announces Strategic Adjustments to Executive Leadership

MADISON, WI and CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – December 14, 2012 – Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE: LNT) announced strategic adjustments to the company’s executive team. Patricia Kampling, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, announced the promotion of Thomas Hanson to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and the appointments of Linda Mattes as Vice President – Energy Delivery Operations and Douglas Kopp as Vice President – Environmental Affairs.

Tom Hanson was most recently Vice President and CFO and oversees all financial aspects of the company’s operations.

Linda Mattes most recently led development of the proposed natural gas generating station in Marshalltown, Iowa. She has been with the company since 1982 and has held leadership roles in many areas of the company, including Energy Delivery, Finance, Generation and Energy Resource Development. Mattes holds a bachelor’s degree from Coe College, and an MBA from Ashford University. Her duties on the Marshalltown Generating Station project will transition to the company’s generation organization.

Doug Kopp was previously Director – Environmental Affairs. Since joining the company in 1992, Kopp has held positions in the company’s Energy Delivery and Generation organizations. He holds bachelor’s degrees from Iowa State University and the University of Utah.

Responsibilities for other executive leadership have also been adjusted.

Tom Aller, current Senior Vice President – Energy Resource Development and President of Alliant Energy’s Interstate Power and Light Company subsidiary, will assume the role of Senior Vice President – Operations Support. He will remain President of Interstate Power and Light Company.

Vern Gebhart, current Vice President – Energy Delivery Operations, will become Vice President – Business Infrastructure and Technology, overseeing the company’s facility, security and information technology functions, including an increased focus on cyber security.

“These changes are made with the customer and all our employees in mind,” said Kampling. “Our employees at all levels are focused on providing energy and exceptional service to our customers and communities – safely, efficiently and responsibly. I believe these changes will help us continue to serve customers well.”
