MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was stopped and arrested early Tuesday for suspicion of operating while intoxicated.

Sadie Emma Book, 21, of Mason City, was stopped by Iowa State Patrol officers in the 000 block of North Washington Avenue at 2:31 AM Tuesday morning.

Cerro Gordo County sheriff’s deputies arrived and assisted at the scene, noting that they “assisted the Iowa State Patrol on a traffic stop with an alleged drugged driver.”

Book was arrested and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and booked at 3:15 AM where she is still being held.

Book has only a speeding violation and a failure to obey a stop sign violation on her record.

  1. Drugged how? I’m not making excuses for her, but maybe she was “drugged” by medicine. Has anyone thought of that? Some medications can make a person impaired. The article doesn’t say what she was drugged with. Let’s not judge. Everyone makes mistakes and this may have been her taking some prescription medicine when she should have waited until she got home. We don’t know the whole story.

  2. Its real nice your all so quick to judge.. Does anyone care that maybe she’s had a rough time and is maybe on some anxiety meds. No your all like throw her under the bus.. Don’t be so quick to judge unless you know the facts.

  3. She is innocent until proven guilty, so be sure to keep that in mind. None of us know what happened or know the situation. We are all adults so act like one instead of saying “cry bitch cry!”..That is cruel and embarrassing on your part. You have never done wrong in your life? We all have. @ Jim, keep your opinion to the police about yourself. @everybody else, stop judging a case you know nothing about. I will pray for you all, including this girl.i

    1. Driving while impared is a crime, you say that now but if she killed one of your family you would be screaming why didn’t they take her off the road sooner.

    2. Jim, I’m not trying to be a smart a** here, but who and where are the “real” criminals. If you know where they’re at, and who they are, post that information here so the rest of us know. I have been taught that driving intoxicated/drugged is a real crime, and a big problem in this country. I would rather she was hit with a wakeup call like this, then having her hit and kill/maim a friend or family member of mine, or anyone else for that matter. Imagine how it would feel to be 21 and have to carry the fact that you killed someone, because you made a bad choice.

    3. OK, when one of your family members are hurt or even killed by a drugged up driver(which I don’t want to happen) lets see what you say then.

    4. Well, John’s a much bigger man than I. I WILL be a smart ass here. I think what everyone here can agree on and just isn’t so quick to say it as I am (I cut to the chase), is that what IS truly pathetic is your dumbass comment. You obviously have nothing better to do with your time. You would feel much differently and would be crying like a little 6 year old girl if she was out on the road and caused an accident with a family member of yours and killed them. So, do us a favor please…comment intelligently or don’t comment at all.

      Muchas Gracias Miho.

  4. Glad they got you off the street. Better you cry because you got caught than an entire family cring because your stupidity & selfishness caused the death of a loved one. So yeah cry bitch cry!!

    1. She is only crying because she got caught. She is old enough to know that what she did was against the law. Hopefully she will learn from this and not do it again. At least no one got hurt.
