Ogden, IOWA — On Sunday, October 21, 2012, at approximately 10:00 AM, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office communications center received a 911 call. The 911 call was placed by 28 year old Josh Andrew Powell. He stated that his wife was deceased inside the home located at 101 West Cherry Street in Ogden. The Ogden Police department responded and found Josh Powell waiting outside the residence upon their arrival. Ogden Police entered the residence and found 25 year old Jacalyn Powell deceased.

Court records show Josh Powell admitted he and his wife had an altercation last night, October 20, 2012, inside the residence. Powell said that during the fight, he intentionally struck Jaclyn Powell resulting in her death. Joshua Powell stated that he checked Jaclyn Powell’s pulse and she did not have one.

Complaint & Affidavit

Powell was transported to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office where he was subsequently arrested on a charge of Murder in the First degree. Powell is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on $2 million bond.

An autopsy of Jacalyn Powell will be conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s office in Ankeny, Iowa tomorrow, October 22, 2012.

The investigation is being conducted by the Ogden Police Department, Boone County Sheriff’s office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  1. It’s amazing how people can take a news article and use it to base their comments on. And to define one person as guilty and one as innocent when all the facts are not in shows a complete lack of common sense reasoning. Take a deep breath, take a step back, and try to think objectively rather than subjectively, and then make your comments.

  2. Isn’t this fool the brother or cousin of Andy Powell who was arrested in Mason City, Iowa back in February for domestic assault?

  3. I agree. They should put a picture of the innocent woman and her two kids who now have to live with the fact that their father killed their mother. so sad my heart is aching. Justice will be served and he will get what is coming to him.

    1. You didn’t even know her you can’t just say that. You didn’t know the circumstances at all. How dare you have no empathy at all.

      1. I think he means the man should have just walked away instead of killing his wife. What he said doesn’t reflect badly on the woman at all.

  4. Take down his picture and show the beautiful woman that was killed. Our best friend is gone because of a dumb decision do not glorify him
