MASON CITY – Around 11:20 am Saturday, Mason City firefighters were dispatched to 1013 6th Street SW for a natural gas odor coming from the basement.
Alliant was said to have been at this location and requested the evacuation of the residents of the home there. According to a Mason City property search, M R Tenney and Judy Tenney are the owners of the home.
The firefighters were airing the home out and also investigating around the structure for safety reasons. A faint smell of gas was in the air.
A Mason City police officer at the scene said, “I was able to smell the odor at when I first got here, but not so much now.”
