MASON CITY – Authorities dealt with a pair of teens from Minnesota who stole multiple items from Wal-Mart and other businesses on Saturday night.
According to police, on June 15th at approximately 8:04 pm, Wal-Mart employees reported a shoplifting incident. The suspects had left in a vehicle which officers were able to stop from leaving the area. Stolen property from two Mason City businesses was recovered as well as some stolen property from a Clear Lake victim. There were three subjects in the car from Minnesota. Two were implicated in the Mason City thefts. A search incident to arrest revealed suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia also.
The stolen items recovered from MC businesses were mainly footwear and a sports drink. The stolen property from Clear Lake was a bicycle.
Two young men from Minnesota were arrested: Daniel John Grapper, 18 and Jordon Jay Kalina, 19, both from Zumbrota.
Grapper was charged with 5th degree theft and Possession of Marijuana. Kalina was charged with 5th Degree Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A third subject was not charged. The Cerro-Gordo Sheriff’s Dept assisted with the traffic stop and investigation. Clear Lake police is believed to have filed additional charges from their theft case. Grapper and Kalina were jailed.
